activist
Interview with Angel Femia, Director of LoveCry
LoveCry is a non-profit support organization for the homeless and the abused in Toronto, Canada.
JM – Angel, your group LoveCry The Streetkids Organization has quite a presence on FaceBook. Can you tell our readers about it and your reason for starting it?
A – I have been directing LoveCry for 20 years now and when I first saw FaceBook I felt it would be a great way to keep in touch with all the kids for free, then it grew so we send out information to everyone we can regarding abuse, healing and love.
JM – Can you tell our readers more about yourself and your history as an activist?
A – I was raised in a small town, in an abusive family. I worked part time from the age of 12 and then at 17 I began to work full time. I have three kids and totally broke down in 1981 from there I went to the streets.

Protesters shut down Wells Fargo Bank in Richmond
About a dozen protesters shut down a Wells Fargo Bank during the lunch hour Wednesday.
The protest was organized by Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), which also staged demonstrations at branches in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and San Diego.
The protests launched what ACCE calls a “campaign calling on Wells Fargo to enact a broad principal reduction program, reduce short sales and release data on borrowers helped by income and race.”
Bank officials in Richmond temporarily closed the doors at the 4300 Macdonald Ave. branch as the protesters marched in a circle and chanted, “Banks got bailed out, we got sold out.” Customers still used automated teller machines nearby. More…

Packing the Car~Crystal Zevon's latest Michael Moore blog entry
Searching For Occupy
Packing the Car
By Crystal Zevon
Just back from washing and vacuuming the car. Trying to figure out how we cram clothes, camping gear, photo equipment, food, two people and the dog in my little Prius for a 6 month to 1 year road trip… Searching for Occupy. I commented to my partner in this venture, Denise Valdez, that at least when we were occupying in D.C., we had tents. Suddenly, the memory of those frozen, leaky tents translates into plush, cushy, comfy luxury. We don’t know where we’ll be sleeping from night to night… What if one of us gets sick… How do we avoid corporate food stops... What if we get arrested and they take the video equipment that has been depleting my bank account...What if… what if … what if what the media implies is truer than we believe and we can’t find Occupy?

Only as Equals: Every time I think of 9/11 I see burning flesh dripping off the bones of Iraqi children in Fallujah Now Gaza I tend to memorialize the forgotten The collateral damage eclipsing our unpunished crimes Maybe it’s because I’m a numbers guy Because if I had a dollar for every time an Iraqi died since 2003 I’d be a millionaire And don’t get me wrong Sometimes I don’t know who I hate more The governments in the West Or the politicians in the East Who sell their souls quicker than the oil they export Straw men who use Palestine as a tool to line their pockets And don’t give a nickel to their people Quisling governments Who stitch mouths shut for a check from Washington and AIPAC How can you be their prototypical anti-Semite If you are signing peace accords to oppress your own people?
