| NEW YORK, July 10--On the 10th day of Con Ed's lock out of 8500 employees, union workers do a call and response behind barricades outside the utility's HQ at 4 Irving place, while contract talks continue. Despite freefloating rumors of a settlement sparked by a Con Ed press release, no such settlement has been reached and the union has posted a point-by-point contract rebuttal on its Facebook page, countering the Con Ed double talk with "member straight talk", Members of the New York City Labor Chorus show up in support of the locked out workers. Excerpt from transcript: "This is the bottom line of survival for working people; to lock out over 8000 employees at this time when everybody's hurting is cruel, incredibly cruel. We cannot take this lying down....This is a last ditch fight for us as human beings." Filmed by Liza Béar,Squaring Off. lizajbear@gmail.com | Views: 1 0 ratings |
