Breaking: Former Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper Indicted

US Magistrate Robert Mitchell announced moments ago that former Pittsburgh Police chief Nate Harper has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy and tax evasion (4 counts). A warrant for Harper's arrest was issued shortly after the indictment.

Nate Harper resigned last month amid a FBI and IRS investigation into misappropriation of funds from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police's special events department which handles special officer securty details at bars, events and more. Investigators accuse Harper of redirecting funds from the special events department into Police credit union accounts. Using the funds for lush condos for VIP's during Pittsburgh's G20 Summit, a party for an officer's promotion, nights out on the town including visits to Silky's gentlemen's club in Mckee's rocks as well as multiple other unexplained expenses.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's body guards were also given debit cards from these credit union accounts. Harper is also accused of giving preferential treatment to friends when it comes to police contracts for new equipment in the police cruisers. The FBI and IRS will hold a press conference at 1 pm to discuss the charges.

In a press conference investigators told media that Harper failed to file taxes from 2008-2001, and used public funds to furnish his home, install a xm satellite radio for his car, and withdrew over $30,000 from the credit union for personal use. "These allegations represent the worst kind of corruption, these monies belong to the tax payers and were taken by theft." said US Attorney Hickton. Harper has also made over $400,000 between 2008 and 2011. Mobile Broadcast News will bring you more on this story as it progresses.

It's a question many have been asking in what has shaped up to be a very rocky and controversial week for the city of Pittsburgh. The city received another black eye with the forced resignation of Police Chief Nate Harper amidst a FBI investigation into mismanagement of funds from the Bureau's special events department.

Among Fbi allegations of missing funds that may date back all the way to the Pittsburgh G20 summit in which funds were used to rent condos for high ranking officials including Mayor Luke Ravenstahl as well as, create a fund in the Police Bureau's credit union paying for Ravenstahl's body guards' expenses. Ravenstahl denies he had knowledge of his body guards having debit cards from the disputed accounts and asserts he met with the FBI on their investigation and is not a target of said inquiries.

Unpermitted March does not mean the police can now hurt the people for public safety!?

This is a video with clips taken from the recent 2.14.13 unpermitted One Billion Rising March, recently in Portland in which the police treated peacefully the unpermitted marchers *this time.

In contrast: There is out-takes added from May Day 2012 and from the N3 Austerity march in 2012 that were both unpermitted marches... where folks who were protesting were then pepersprayed, blocked and tackled by the police. [while in the street trying to march]

“Lawless America”: Elderly couple illegally pulled over harassed, bullied… after car decal is mistaken for a marijuana leaf

Submitted by worldwide hippies on Sat, 02/23/2013 - 13:17

  • Police Misconduct

By Graham Watson | Dr. Saturday  -

There is no one to report it too! – Police in America are allowed and sometimes encouraged to terrorize the citizenry. Nothing will be done to those cops who broke the law in stopping these people. Nothing!

Apparently Ohio State – and college football in general – isn’t very popular in the state of Tennessee.

At least not with the police.

Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni, 65, and her husband were driving home to Plano, Texas from Columbus after attending her mother-in-law’s funeral when a pair of black police SUV’s stopped the couple a few miles outside of Memphis.

“Knowing I wasn’t speeding, I couldn’t imagine why,” Jonas-Boggioni told the Columbus Dispatch. “They were very serious. They had the body armor and the guns.”

On the back of Jonas-Boggioni’s car was a Buckeye leaf decal, similar to the one players’ have on their helmets, and cops mistakenly thought it was marijuana leaf.

Yes, really.

“What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?” one of the cops asked Jonas-Boggioni.

After trying to explain that the sticker was not a marijuana leaf and that she and her husband were not trafficking drugs cross-country, the police advised Jonas-Boggioni to remove the sticker as to not cause any more confusion.

You know, just in case there were any other moronic drug cops out there that didn’t actually know what a marijuana leaf looked like.

By John Konopak.CJE – What was the first US city to undergo an attack from the air?

No, not NYC, 2001. And it wasn’t Honolulu, 1941, either.

No, it occurred during what was probably the worst, bloodiest, deadliest and most destructive “race” riot in American history occurred in 1921: in the “Black” neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, called Greenwood. The Governor of Oklahoma ordered military aircraft to attack the Greenwood district of Tulsa with incendiary bombs and sniper fire on Sunday, June 1, 1921, to suppress a “Negro Rebellion.”

One year ago a small group of predominantly Anarchists sparked a horizontally organized movement to level the playing field in the game of Corporations -vs- The People of the United States.  Today we celebrated our success and contemplated our future.  We licked old wounds and created new ones.  We turned a critical eye to the process that has guided us and acknowledged it's short comings so that our second year of existence will be one of effectiveness even if it means dropping the verb.  To Occupy.

500 or more Occupy revelers march from Washington Square Park to their former home in Zucotti to kick off the Occupied Anniversary Party. 26 were arrested mostly through snatch and grab terrorist tactics.    Those arrested had done nothing wrong, were walking peacefully on the sidewalk with their friends. Squads of terrorists pushed through the peaceful crowd to man handle and steal people.

this is the summer of "solidarity & mobilization," where convergences on emergency action in an attempt to restore environmental sanity to a crazy, overheated, world are taking place. this past weekend was chock full of extraction awareness trainings and action campaigns, from the tar sands blockade training in east texas, to the "stop the frack attack" teach-in and rally in dc, and the ramps "mountain justice mobilization" in west virginia. all in all, thousands of concerned citizens and environmental activists gathered for these events.

the "stop the frack attack" campaign drew thousands of concerned citizens who descended upon the capital from across the nation and the world, to protest the use of hydraulic fracturing as a method to extract natural gas and oil from shale beds and abandoned coal mines. this method includes drilling through the earth's crust, smashing up rocks in a dormant well site and capturing the vapors. it has been known to make water so toxic it can literally be set on fire while streaming out of the taps. it is also believed that it destabilizes bed rock to the degree that it creates small earth quakes in areas where fracking is practiced.

RAMPS pulled off the largest MTR direct action to date against the largest mountain top removal site in WV on Saturday.  The Hobet Surface Mine was shut down for about 3 hours through a series of coordinated diversions, lock downs, tree-sits and banner drops.   It has been reported that this was the only mine in WV without beefed up security in anticipation of the publicly announced action.  Hobet was apparently too big & scary to imagine that Tree Huggers would have the balls to walk onto their site.  The Police arrested about 25 people including atleast 3 credentialed press with total bail set at over a 1/2 million dollars.  WV resident Dustin Steele has reportedly been beaten in jail and is being denied medical attention.
